Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have released Batman Arkham City update 1.03, which addresses issues with the game’s PS5 backwards compatibility. Hopefully this should ensure the Dark Knight’s critically acclaimed sequel will run more smoothly on the system.
The Batman Arkham City update 1.03 patch notes are as follows:
Sep 23, 2009 Download Batman: Arkham Asylum patch for Windows to update your Batman: Arkham Asylum to v1.1. Batman: Arkham City PC DX11 Patch - patch (hx) 07:42 PM CET - Dec,07 2011 - Post a comment The promised PC patch fixing DirectX 11 issues in Batman: Arkham City has gone live, but Rocksteady is suggesting folks running 32-bit versions of Windows 7 or Vista skip it for the time being.
- Fixes compatibility with PlayStation®5
This obviously pertains to the PS4 version of Batman Arkham City featured in the Batman Return to Arkham Collection, which remasters Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City.
Interestingly it appears that Batman Arkham City was clocking in at a lower resolution when played on the PS5, due to a bug that dropped the resolution to sub-1080 on Sony’s new console. Previously, the game ran at 1080p for PS4 and PS4 Pro.
In addition, when played on PS5, Batman Arkham City is locked at 30 FPS, although this is unlikely to have been fixed in the update. However, it is possible to have the game run at 60 FPS on the PS5, providing you don’t install any updates.
